Data Centre Operations Manager – Online Poker – Ireland
Overall Purpose of Job Role:
The Data Centre Operations Manager will ensure best practice delivery of day-to-day operational data centre services across multiple geographic data centre locations. The position is in a very rapidly growing and diverse environment, with a wide range of different systems and software.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
-Hands on role leading on the design, implementation and management of all data centres initiatives in the company
-Work with remote data centre staff on installation of new hardware and replacement of faulty hardware
-Participate in asset requisition, acquisition, receipt, and management
-Drive data centre best practice and industry standards into working processes and procedures, linked to ITIL disciples such as incident, change and problem management
-Manage 3rd parties / vendors for provision of contracted services on day-to-day basis as well as coordinating preventative maintenance schedules and troubleshooting environmental equipment issues.
-Capacity management for space (rack and floor space), power and cooling
-Creation and maintenance of auditable documents that demonstrate the effective implementation and adherence to data centre best practice and industry standards
-Monthly management reporting including data centre capacity / utilization, issues & risks, achievements and planned activities
-Documenting rack, power and cabling infrastructure
Skills/Experience
-BSc degree in Computer Science/Engineering require
-8 years of experience with comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware (Knowledge of HP hardware &
-Networking kit essential, Linux preferable
-5 years+ experience in managing geographically diverse Data Centres.
-Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electrical infrastructure / technologies that support data centres (UPS, Generator, switchgear, PDUs)
-Excellent knowledge of tools / systems used to manage data centres (security, building management, rack management, capacity management)
-Excellent knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
-Able to design, implement and document Data centre solutions
-Must be detail orientated and strive for perfection
-Must be able to travel from time to time
-Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
