Responsibilities
• A major component of this position is to manage a World Class poker tournament, currently held in Aruba and another held in Las Vegas. Other events as applicable each year will also fall under their responsibility
• Plans and executes marketing events, such as poker tournaments and other customer related events.
• Coordinates logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations.
• Procures and coordinates vendor services.
• Coordinates facility, exhibit/event set-up, equipment and catering requirements.
• Provides on-site event support.
• May research potential event locations and evaluate alternatives.
• Negotiate contracts and deals with senior level people
• Deal and manage million dollar budgets
• Manage a broad group of people within the company to deliver the event such as designers, copywriters, support staff, and online resources
• Work with external resources to ensure an event’s success (hotels, governments, regulators, other consultants and resources)
• Able to look at opportunities to grow the Aruba event (worth $3m a year) – one of the largest tournaments outside of the US work alongside the Marketing Director to help grow the tournament
• Build and manage significant P&L
Knowledge
• Comfortable dealing with customers at all levels
• Dealing with high level, high pressure situations
• Strong decision making skills
• Ability to work independently without detailed instruction on day-to-day duties
• Strong attention to detail
• Understand poker (I wouldn’t make this a deal breaker when hiring someone, the basics can be learned)
• Knowledge of Excel and management tools
• Commercially very shrewd
This Job Position Report to Director of Marketing
The performance of this position is currently being measured by:
• Dealing with Aruba and other events specific project management, working against tight time lines
• Each point has a specific deliverable
• Making the event run smoothly
• Measured on how the event goes
• Manage the event within the budget
• Everyone associated is happy
• Negotiating dealer contracts, hotel contracts
• Responsible for cash
The key deliverables of this position are:
- Time of the event happening
- Grow and innovate the event
- Manage the staff /Pros/Swag/TV.

• Knowledge Project management software

• Metrically capable – good commercial and analytical mind and negotiation skills
• Exceptional administrator

• Good in customer facing environment
• Understand poker
• Stature & back bone
Location: needs to be based Costa Rica.
