Linux Administrator – Dublin, Ireland
Overall Purpose of Role:
We have an opening for an experienced Senior Linux Administrator. This role will provide support and complex solutions in many areas including: IT and Marketing with electronic mail and mailing lists, Postfix, MySQL Administration, Apache configuration and Administration, BASH and PERL scripting, Monitoring, Security, Squid Proxy and DNS configuration. The successful candidate will be an experienced LINUX engineer with a complete understanding of the Debian and RedHat Distributions and underlying applications with a focus on Apache, Postfix, MySQL and BIND.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
• Responsible for the analysis and assessment of e-mail logs from multiple LINUX machines in order to troubleshoot/repair/triage problems in syntax, addressing, mail delivery, and mail server failures
• Configure and support electronic mailing lists, whitelisting services with large email providers (Domain Keys, rDNS, etc) as well as email relay, dynamic email routing, maillog analysis and understanding of POP, SMTP and IMAP implementations
• Knowledge of BIND and DNS technologies and the understanding of implementing Geo-Diversity and Redundancy using said technologies
• Knowledge of complex MySQL installations, configuration, backups, permissions, new user and database setups, stored procedures as well as basic understanding of SQL Syntax
• Strong understanding of Apache configurations under various operating systems, especially SSL support, Redirect and logging options, and directory security configuration parameters
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP including routing IP in complex environments, connectivity testing and verification, host and network routing configurations and implementation of iptables for routing, proxy and security
• Solid understanding of Network Monitoring and Management utilities, including Cacti and Nagios, HPSIMS/ILO, shell scripting and SNMP.
• Possess a proven track record of ability to work both independently and with a diverse group of developers and engineers, set priorities with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
Skills / Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience working with computer networks and data communications with a focus on Linux / UNIX Operating systems, primarily Debian and RedHat
• Superb interpersonal skills and comportment
• Strong oral communication skills and decorum
• Excellent time management and organisational skills a must
• Excellent written communication skills, including ability to compose clear, grammatically correct and polite prose, especially in the area of business and technical correspondence
• Experience in composing basic computer and/or instructional documentation and creating technical layout diagrams
• Proven track record of managing multiple environments consisting of many Linux/UNIX servers, and applying updates and patches appropriately
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to work well with other highly talented individuals
• Fluency in the English language
• A love and interest in poker would be a bonus
