System Engineer/Architect – Dublin

Overall Purpose of Role:

Provide technical expertise for a team developing and maintaining a fast growing Massively Multiplayer On-line Poker Site. You will be responsible for the specification and design of future development to the site, whilst ensuring that the performance, capacity and overall system integrity goals are reached. You will work closely with the Software Development Teams to deliver solutions that meet required business & technical objectives. A proven ability to integrate heterogeneous components to deliver and end-to-end solution is required. You will isolate and troubleshoot system issues, and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Scope and Design system changes
Coordinate the activities of Development Engineers, Network Engineers and Operations
Provide technical input to Development Engineers, Network Engineers and Operations
Capacity, performance and reliability modeling and analysis
Develop System Specification and Design Documents
Prototype solutions in strategic areas
Assist in the develop Operational Procedures for Operations Group
Provide technical input for Quality Assurance / Test Plans and Procedures
Be on call to handle escalation of system issues

Skills / Experience Required:

A proven ability to integrate heterogeneous components to deliver and end-to-end solution is required
Strong grasp of computer systems, software, and networking, across a variety of platforms with experience in both MS-Windows and Linux
Extensive design and development expertise in multi-threaded, distributed applications
Proficiency in a broad array of technical skills including: operating systems, security, networking, fault-tolerance, transactional processing, large scale web applications on both IIS and Apache, databases, data structures, middleware, and client/server enterprise application development
Experience designing/maintaining mission-critical, enterprise-scale systems is a necessity
2+ years as a System Engineer
5+ years as a Software Developer
4+ years experience with mission critical, 24/7 operations
2+ years with enterprise-scale applications
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
A degree in Computer Science, advanced degree highly desired, (or relevant work experience)
Quality Assurance experience is a plus
