Job Purpose
The Head of PR provide strategic direction for PokerStars worldwide public relations and is responsible for managing a team of professionals tasked with creating buzz, interest and awareness for PokerStars via earned media.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong PR counsel and strategic PR programs that enhance the perception of PokerStars among key audiences.
- Manage a team of PR professionals to ensure high performance, quantifiable results and accountability.
- Create an environment to foster creative and effective PR programs
- Manage people, budgets, agencies and freelancers effectively
Skills and Capabilities
- Media relations: Leverage existing and develop new relationships with important press and media contacts in order to effectively influence and drive positive coverage in trade and consumer media.
- Event management – Conceive, plan and/or execute high-quality press events that distinguish PokerStars from other brands and companies.
- Agency management – Hire and manage communications agencies effectively to ensure delivery of agreed-upon goals and quantifiable results.
- Budget Management: Effectively manage department resources and use powers of influence to leverage other budgets and campaigns to achieve PR goals.
- Service orientation: Provide excellent customer service, counsel and reporting to internal clients
Essential
- Experience in core PR skills of media relations, PR strategy, events and promotions
- Ability to manage people who report to you and people who don’t
- Positive, upbeat attitude and willingness to grapple big, complex issues with zeal and zest
Desirable
- Experience working in a PR agency
- Relationships with and knowledge of relevant trade and consumer media
Additional Information
PR is not a 9-to-5 function, which means you may be on call at times 24/7. You’ll be expected to travel and work at the Company’s biggest and most important internal and external events. You will have access and exposure with executives at all levels of the company and industry.
